ASSEN ZAHARIEV

1953-2006
When first emerging onto the Bulgarian art world in the early 1970's, the extraordinary Assen Zahariev stunned it with his distinctive painting techniques and valiant take on art.

Assen Zahariev worked primarily in the fields of painting, mixed media and art-installations. He used materials such as wood, various metals, photo imprints, different kinds of oils, glues, and paints, experimenting and creating his own techniques and media.
Deeply textured canvases that ooze whirling motion in a tempered chaos and oddly sooth the observer are emblematic of Zahariev's art. The sense of harmony and calm is further enhanced by the gentle color scheme.

His career encompassed numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide in the 80's, 90's, and the new millennium.
